All Guilds Meeting – April 2017

April Fools’ All Guilds Meeting couldn’t start without a status server playing the joker! And quite a few surprises we had. For those who were unable to attend, we have the raw and cleansed chatlogs ready, along with the usual summary:

Boywhith’s Bookshelf

Boywhith was first, to announce his collection of Myst/Uru related books. The bookshelf is available at UruTunes; most of the books are in Dutch, but one in particular is translated in English: Wonders of D’ni.

D’ni New Year & International Mother Earth’s Day Parties

Max was next, to present two upcoming, all day long parties. The first, on Friday, April 21st, celebrates the D’ni New Year; the second, on Saturday, April 22nd, honors the International Mother Earth’s Day. Locations and schedules are still to be defined, anyone is welcome to contribute with ideas and performances! If you want to participate, just contact Max or TrapperDave, or post on the related MO:ULa forums threads.

Music for the Kings

Davide followed, to announce a music stream he will brodacast on Thursday, April 13 at 13:00 KI time in the Hall of Kings: a selection of music composed for royal ears. The stream will be available at UruTunes.

rarified was next, for a quick update on the Minkata shard status. The pipeline for client fixes is about to be cleared and they’re being prepared for sending to Cyan. Quite a few fixes were included in the recent update, including a change to the client’s button to create a new account. Notably, the update includes the fix for the client crashing when the status server is unavailable.

On the Fan Content front, they have been working with Doobes’ New GoMe Pub on the Minkata-Beta shard and uncovered a lot of things that needed adjusting. They are working through those that they can fix before going back to Doobes, to ask for any changes that might be needed to start working on a feed to Cyan. Once they will be sure they can get the Pub reliably loaded and verified, they will announce the general availability on the Beta shard.

Ages of Doobes

Doobes stopped by to give a few updates on all the things he is working on. He has been a bit out of the loop recently, for good reasons, but the work on his Fan Library never stopped; the majority of modeling and texturing is done, and he is working on the finer details.

He will also be getting back to the team to help get the New GoMe Pub working properly on the Minkata Beta shard, hopefully working out any and all kinks in getting Fan-created Ages into Minkata Prime and, eventually, MO:ULa itself.

To find out more about Doobes’ work, you can visit his website or his Facebook page.

Korov’ev stepped in, to remind the crowd that both the hotel and the registration have been announced by OHB and Capella. The registration is at a reduced price until June 9th, so be sure to register early!

Laki’anay Age

Theo was next (and also invisible to the moderator, second prank of the meeting! ), to announce the release of the Laki’anay Age, along with its companions Giloto, Argosy and Cholonay, made by Jaruku and rocketdog. The Ages are currently available on the UAM shard, and will hopefully be released on the Deep Island shard in the near future.

Note: the Guild of Messengers does not endorse playing on the UAM shard.

Korov’ev closed the Meeting with some news about Cyan’s latest game Obduction. First, the Mac OS X version has finally been released on GOG, Steam and the Apple Store. It requires the Metal framework (to check if your Mac supports it, see in Apple Menu > About This Mac > System Report > Graphics/Displays; the “Metal: ” item should report “supported”).

Secondly, the HTC Vive support has also been made available, updated with Touch controls for Oculus Rift. It is available on GOG, Steam, the Humble Store and the Oculus Store. Players who already own the game on PC or Rift will receive Vive and Rift Touch support for free.

And that was all for this month! Don’t forget to donate to keep the Cavern open! The next All Guilds Meeting is planned for May, Saturday 6th at 13:00 KI time.

See you next time!
