The New Players' Hood will be sponsoring a beginner's exploration of Er'cana this weekend at the following times:
Saturday, Feb. 12 at 13:00 KI Time
Sat., Feb. 12 at 3:00 PM EST
Sat., Feb 12 at 9:00 PM CET
Sun., Feb 13 at 9:00 AM AEDT
Sun., Feb 13 at 11:00 AM NZDT
Yes, the times are a little odd, but I feel that this is the ideal slot to get everybody in at a convenient time (unless you live in an unfortunate location between GMT and Australia. Not much we can do about that...).
So the day will go as follows:
- We will meet at the above times in the New Players' Hood/Bevin
-- In order to get to “The New Players' Hood/Bevin,” you must first obtain your KI from the Gahreesen Age. Then, link to the Nexus through the Nexus linking book found in the Linking Room in your neighborhood or the book next to the KI dispenser. Once you are in the Nexus, the link to The New Players' Hood/Bevin will be found listed in the Public Links section of the Nexus Register. Just link through the book that appears after you select the link and activate the book dispenser.
--- KIs can be obtained either through playing the age Gahreesen (you will encounter the dispenser fairly early) or by following the signs and instructions located in Bevin (accessible through the blue book on the upper left of your shelf).
- Once we are all gathered we will choose a person's Er'cana to use
-- At this point we will go over how to share books. At some point in the event we will likely go over age invites, however this will not happen in the Hood at that time.
- We'll explore!Lees meer
Following up on the previously reported February 4th announcements from the DRC’s Dr. Watson and RAWA, OHB and a group from the Guild of Writers took to the stage at the February 5th All Guilds Meeting to announce the introduction of two new neighborhoods which will be available as public links in the nexus.
Explorer Branan explained that the first is called the Hood of Illusions, “which will have scheduled [hacking] demonstrations.” The second, called the “Fun House,” is a location where hacking can occur randomly at any time. Branan said he plans “to move some of my tool development and testing to the Fun House” and that people will be able to visit it anytime “and there’s a chance someone will be there playing around.”
According to OHB, the introduction of these neighborhoods stem from discussions between RAWA and a group of hackers now known as the “Grey Hats”. At the meeting, Narameh asked where the term “Grey Hats” came from. Branan responded by saying:
It’s a general hacking term for “people who aren’t doing bad things but aren’t really authorized”. Now that we’re sort of authorized we’re moving towards being “white hats”... I used the term when I contacted RAWA about the concept, and it stuck. Lees meer
The Healers would like to invite you to an Anniversary "Welcome Home, Welcome Back" Celebration. This celebration is to mark the One-Year Anniversary of the re-re-opening of the Cavern on February 8, 2010. After consulting with the D'niJ and other members of the GoH and the community, we have decided on a day and time.
In addition to dancing, laughing, and general chaos, activities may include:
A welcome home and welcome back to everyone from everyone on the hour
A sojourn to the Ferry Dock to acknowledge the bahro (if they are still there) and invite new explorers to join us.
Sharing stories of the last year (or history if anyone would like to do so)
We will begin the party at the Ferry Terminal in the city at 14:00 KI Time. After some ceremony (welcoming, acknowledging bahro, whatever other things we share) we will dance for a bit, and then at 15:00 KI Time we will move to the Hall of Kings. More ceremony, welcoming, sharing stories, dancing (running amok) and at 16:00 we will move to the Library. More ceremony, sharing, celebration, dancing, etc, etc, and then at 17:00 KI we either move to another part of the city or to Kirel.
Ae'gura Tokotah Plaza, about 14:00 KI Time, Rand (yes THAT Rand, the creator of Myst) links into Ae'gura. He is happily greeted from all the people there and they immediately start filling him with questions (of course :D)!
Rand gave us some good news. Cyan is happy to have Riven finally out for the iOS and they are working on other small projects as well. Rand is also sure Myst Movie will be a great movie. He has commented a bit on URU Open Source with these words:
what's the latest you've heard on open source?
we're trying to put some stuff together - it really shouldn't be long now!
the open source stuff moves all the pressure to you guys! :)
We really hope it will happen very soon!
For the rest of the visit he has chatted about many other subjects, and he was informed of the D'ni App Pokemon and others are planning on the MOUL forums and in addition to that The Public Project by Tanshin.
Just when The Public question went out, all the fog in Ae'gura turned to green and all were surprised, even Rand! At first people believed it was Rand or other people at Cyan making special effects for Rand's birthday party, but soon Rand assured us he was not behind it so it must have been someone else.
Soon Rand had to leave, but the Hacker of URU kept up his work changing the color of the sky, of the fog, making people jump, switching on the Bahro and making Kerath's Arch disappear and reappear. All of this went on for a while and was still up when I left the Cavern. Here is a collection of pictures taken there (first two: courtesy of AgeExplorer):Lees meer
