Lead article done. Haven't decided about the subject of the editorial yet. It WON'T be about the last issue of the paper, nor will it be positive about the "recent announcement" from RAWA (it probably won't dwell too much on that though, if at all). I don't know if this helps or not, Marten. I'll try to get started on it in the nrxt couple of days. Please don't let my editorial influence your writing though; if you have something you'd like to say, I think our subscribers would like to hear it.
Oh, I was offering to write the lead article, but if you've already got it done, hm, not sure I need to add anything! I will take a look at what you wrote for the opening article tonight and see if I have any suggestions.
Is this the lead article you wrote, Theremin?

BTW, I've noticed that the "Revisions" tab does not work quite right - the author of each revision is always listed as the orignial author, even if another person makes a change (like I made to the science & technology page). This makes it difficult to see who actually made a change.
Marten, the link sends me to an "oops" page, I'm presuming you were linking to the article announcing the last issue where I quoted myself, and yes, I did write it. (You guys know me... I'm very much a minimalist!)
If anyone would like to add anything to it, please go ahead, I'd only ask everyone that you keep it sort of factual, and don't offer any opinions unless you quote yourself, such as I did. I don't want it to sound like we're whining.
I've been hovering around in GoW..... but nothing much to write home about, .... Will make another pass....
Nothing new and explosive at the GoW, sorry to say.
Looks like most are focused internally on 'details' that would boggle most minds and it hurts my head also.

Drupal handles Revisions differently from other Wikis software. Revisions are created only if you explicitly request so while you're editing the article, otherwise it doesn't create a revision and directly edits the current version of the article.
But, a history list is maintained even so, and it makes it look like the same person performed all of the edits even if different people did the edits.
EDIT: Nevermind, I see... for an entry in the history that I thought was mine, Szark had actually edited the item and created a revision the same day. My change did not get logged in the revision history at all. Sorry I was confused!
I've added a single sentence to Theremin's write-up for the front page, that's all I wanted to see added and if others want to re-word it or define "important", that's fine... I could not think of a concise way to say "We'll only use this if Cyan announces a new game, announces a new shard, releases Open Source MOUL, cancels Open Source MOUL, goes out of business (again), or does something equally important as one of these examples.".
Has anyone reviewed my article(s) yet? I wrote them pretty hastily so if there are any errors or parts that are unclear, I'd like the opportunity to fix such things.
I haven't had a chance to read through anything yet. But I am ready to assemble properly now. I have everything pre assembled. But I don't want to do anymore until everything has been edited and proof read. In the meantime I will get the images sorted.
Leo do we have an image for the Explorers Lounge?
Also does anyone else want to add to the "Newspaper team" section at the end as in "goodbye" or what ever?
How does this look to you all?
Please note that the forums and the news feed will still be operational for your convenience. Please feel free to carry on using the Guild facilities. The Guild has no plans to close the website in the hope that, and with the recent MORE news, that a full service may return in the future. Thank you

Front Page has been proofread, tho' it seems kinda short, and I can't tell that Marten added what he posted. Am I on the right page Marten???

I read your tutorial in it's entirety Marten, very informative, found only two errors, grammatical not subject, and corrected.
Did you do Podcasting also? Yes/No? Szark? either way, It is 'PROOF'ed also
Leo do we have an image for the Explorers Lounge?
There are pics on Lyllus's photobucket account: http://s83.photobucket.com/albums/j294/Lyllus/?start=0
The first 9 pics (from the first to 'flying nexus') are all from the age (rendered thru 3DS max) :)
Thanks for the fixes!
My addition to the opening article was only this sentence:
"The mailing list for the Newspaper will transition to a notification service that will only be used for important announcements regarding Cyan and its properties."
Thanks everyone.
Does anyone have any objections to putting this http://guildofmessengers.com/book/relto-add-and-blurb on the front page also.
It's ok for me :)
We print all the news that fits (on the page)!

If you really want more news, why not hit up JWPlatt to see if he can add in an article expanding on his post at MOUL, regarding his involvement with Creative Kingdoms / MagiQuest?
Good Idea Marten but it is a bit late in the day for that unless someone else would like to ask JWPlatt. Sorry but I just don't have the time. If any have other ideas to add to the front page then we still have a couple of days.
Plus does anyone else want to say anything in the Newspaper Team page. Last call. Leo, Al'K and I have said a bit. Ok I rambled again, whats new.
I have nearly finished assembling. Just sent a draft to Marten to look at his 13 pages. LOL Need to finish the Podcasting which is nearly done. And then do all the spelling corrections found so far.
Szark
PS Theremin are you still going to add a bit more to the Editorial (remember you said on Saturday when we spoke). :D
PS PS 36 pages so far, trying hard to keep it under the 10MB limit.
Marten I have found a spot for the Rel.to blurb. So we have a big space on the front page. I suppose I could come up with an image to fill it.
Well from the lack of responses I am going to say that's it. First draft will be sent out today or tomorrow.
YAY!!
The early preview looked good to me, format-wise. I saw some items that looked duplicated from previous newsletters but figured those were placeholders :)
Yeah I had a look at the Did you know's and I can't see any duplicates Marten. I will go and have another look see just to make sure. All the other stuff and a big mistake I made with the crossword has now been amended. Thanks Marten and Leo. I am just doing the final touches so we are ready to go for the 12th. Good job everyone.
Marten give me a couple of weeks and I will compile your tutorial into one PDF when I do the Podcast one, is that ok. When it is done we can put it in a home of its own or send out a subscription base e-mail and put it in the library or just put it on the Feed. If you want I could always do my usual and post it everyewhere. Let me know.
Szark
Well, it's up to you if you feel the need to do that, Szark; are you talking about putting what I've written thus far, plus more, into a PDF... or just repeating the published articles in a more convenient form?
I was able to finish what I felt was really necessary to say in the article for the paper by putting parts 2 and 3 together in one issue. If I were going to write any more, it would have to be on more advanced points... that is why I wrapped up the article with a "PM me for questions", so that if people have advanced questions they can just ask me, and I guess if there's any real activity on that, I can put out a "FAQ" later.
I was going for conveinence really and put all the parts together. But if you want to expand I can hold off. It is entirely up to you. I just thought it would be nice for people to have the option of having it all together in one package.
Thanks to Leo another mistake by me has now fixed. August's Team LOL Both the last two pages now say December's Team. Me hides in shame. Cheers Leo. If everyone is happy I will send it out tomorrow.
Szark
Well folks that's another wrap. I wish you all the best be well and take care of yourselves.
Szark
And so it ends
Thank you all for this nice adventure
I have mixed feelings. On one hand I am releived but on the other hand I am saddened. I look at it this way. If MORE comes back the way I think it will be then I will return to help. But this time we should look at how we do things.
One suggestion Theremin had ages ago was to use the front page for all the news...so no newspaper. This would mean having a few people making or finding images to go with certain news items. That would make for a good looking news site (we would have to expand how much room we use on the front page). Plus all the news will be upto date.
Then if we get articles like Marten's Vid tut we can make PDF's just for those.
I seriously think this place will be needed with MORE but even more so than we did with Uru (though we didn't get much of a chance to shine in Uru). I truely believe that the GoMe should be centre stage. Hard when the others don't want to play nice. LOL
As I said above I will if you want Marten I will compile it all into one no problem. Just give me a few weeks. I will be doing the podcast so way not I say. LOL
Thanks Szark
I have similar feelings to yours. I've been reluctant to let go of things Uru but I'm also very tired of certain aspects of it.
I'm optimistic that I might get some help to get Rel.to's database updated, and I still have some upgrades to it in mind - but also, if I don't hear from anyone about updating the site, then I'm certain that will be a pretty clear message for me not to put too much effort into it myself.
The educational portions of the newspaper - the podcast tutorials from Mowog, and my video making ones - were something I'd wanted to see the GoMe embrace for a while, and I just kept putting it off until I saw that the Newspaper needed content, and then I saw an opportunity. I'm pleased that I was able to do those.
I think you can forge ahead with assembling the articles into PDFs, for now you can assume there won't be any additions, but if I hear from anyone about errors or confusing parts, I can send you corrections.
Oh, and thank you to everyone else involved with the Newspaper, from its beginnings up to now. I think it has been a very worthwhile effort and a learning experience for us all.
