To change the position of a page within a book. Leave Book Outline as it is but change Parent item. If you want to go against alphabetical order use Weight. To place it higher in a list, use - and vice versa.

But when you do change a page's position into a different section you must also copy the Articles details on to that Sections main page keeping it in the same order as they are listed at the bottom of the page.

If changing the order of articles within a section then again ensure the order matches the list of article links at the bottom.

I'll publish any responses that come in, I don't want to ask for responses, though. I'm hoping the article may generate some discussion on the forums. I don't want the newspaper to become a forum. I think most of us can look at it objectively, I got a bit of a chuckle out of it, both at my own expense and at the expense of the writer.

If people hear about it on the forums, that may encourage them to get/read the newspaper.

(Let's make sure, however, the article is not credited to Leo directly, we don't need explorers to think this is his opinion!)

I agree Theremin. Btw I also had a chuckle for the same reasons. Good stuff.

It isn't credited to me at all, up to now there are no references to me in the article.

I was wondering if we should add an intro ("From the Editor: ....") to explain it, since we usually don't publish opinion articles (exept for the Editorial)

Definitely. Do you want to write it? I will if you don't.

I need some help please with deep ideas on what image to use for Theremin's thought provoking Editorial.

I have managed to come up with a pic for the Outsider Thought. ;) Hope you like it.

Guest Editorial, I might have an idea for an Image.

Sent an PM of to Angelfire asking if everything is ok.

How many more Doh Worlds are there left?

Do you want me to set up the Next issue's Newspaper Book? April/May??

I'm thinking something like Eder Delin, where numerous explorers had to work together to open the door.

Szark wrote:

Yes! Doesn't Easter fall in mid-April this year? What's the D'ni equivalent to Easter?

10th of April, Good Friday.  I didn't know the D'ni had the easter bunny. ;)

as for the pic, yeah working together, anyone on a shard so they can get a pic of explorers working together. DON'T answer that. (That is my humour) I have a number of group shots but not what Theremin has in mind.

The only D'ni Holiday that may be similar is:

  • First Feast of the Maker , Leenovoo 10, 9664 DE
    marzo 26, 2009 CE 22:59:13 UTC+0100

This celebration pre-dates the D'ni's arrival on Earth (from Gahrternay to D'ni), and IIRC from the religion lessons Easter has a meaning of passage, passing from a condition to another.

The nearer D'ni holidays to this year Easter are:

  • Day of the Circle (when the eighteen Major Guilds of D'ni were finally established and dedicated to Yahvo), Leenovoo 18, 9664 DE
    April 6th, 2009 CE 00:48:09 UTC+0100
  • D'ni New Year , Leefo 1, 9665 DE
    April 21, 2009 CE 03:31:33 UTC+0100

None of them were similar to our Easter, I picked them just because they were near

I don't know what I could write as an intro for the Outsider Thoughts, perhaps you could write a little summary of what you had in mind when you proposed it, Theremin.
Great pic Szark!!! LOL

Perfect! Let's call it the "New Year" Issue (a bit confusing I know) and shoot for a release date of April 21.

You never know, we could get real lucky and have an OpenSource announcement from Cyan by/before April 21st, to make it an  Uru 'New Year'

Just got word from Angelfire that the regulars will be looked at sometime this week. RL has kicked and thus kept angelfire busy.

Leo where do you get or D.ni dates from. DPWR? If I cannot get to that part of the site and without Alahmnat getting help with the site this will probably not change.  If I need some dates could you get them for us in the future?

I'm using a mix of sources: for the descriptions of the holidays I used DPWR (why can't you access the Archive? Just click on Search on the upper right corner, select Search in the Archive and then type in the keywords), and MystLore.

For the dates I use the CavernianCalendarConverter from the FuzzyPhysicsInstitute (BrettM), I also have a D'ni clock program which I downloaded from COBBS some time ago.

Cheers Leo

I have changed where the article information goes as Theremin's request. I have done it to March's to show what a full newspaper is like. I haven't removed the original info but if everyone is happy having that list there only then that would save work all around. Let me know I will act accordingly.

Also this is what I came up with for a back ground editorial image. (Which one do think if any? I take it no one fancied the last ones I posted so how about this then? And yes I have it a lot bigger. The Text could go in the big space I enlarged above the explorers heads.

Szark, you've never produced a bad picture, and your judgment is sound. Surprise me! Either of the photos above looks good. Sorry I guess I missed your other photos. (Maybe a photo of the newspaper team working together to hunt me down with bow and arrow?)

Leonardo,

If I take quotes from Myst and turn them into cryptograms, would that translate well or not?

Like this -

I hope I pushed the right button, my dear brother - Sirrus

would be -

Wow, I love cryptograms!!

Yes, angelfire it will work in italian too. Just tell me the algorithm (or the sequence of algorithms) you used to encript them and I will apply the same mask to the Italian sentence.

Nice one Al'K. Just a few comments to help. First up this is what we need, see a good and valid tip, log it.

However due to the requested changes to the layout some of that information needs to be changed. Which I have done. Also this was mainly for the newpaper. This should be incorparated into a bigger newspaper layout and placed in the Newpaper book IMO.

blu is out for a while, we need an assembler willing to commit for the March and April issues at least. If I can figure out how the "Submit News" thing works, I'll post this.

Ahhh, go to Home page, press Submit News button. type, add tag, save. Or go to school on the tutorial.

Glad you decided to start catching up Theremin. Welcome back from Celestia and the Pods.

Almost right Theremin. Well done. One thing missing as mentioned in both Tutorials.

Link for more info: (Necessary) Insert the web address to the source of the news.

This is required for rel.to to work. So I sent it to this thread here http://guildofmessengers.com/forum/topic/newspaper-assembler.

Well due to the Cron (which is

Mailing the newspaper and Cron jobs:

The actual mailing depends on a cron job (cron jobs allow the site to run commands at predetermined times or intervals, for more information, search the internet).
By default, on this site crons runs every four hours and that is when the e-mails will be sent in bulk to the subscribers. That means that the actual e-mail will not be sent out the very moment you click “Send newspaper”, but in the worst-case scenario four hours later. This method is recommended. If, however, you do desperately wish to send the newspaper immediately, you need to manually force the cron.
In order to do this, visit http://guildofmessengers.com/cron.php and after half a minute or so, you can admire a nice empty page. Rest assured, the cron has executed, and the e-mails are being sent while you watch. If there are over 200 subscribers, you may repeat this after a few minutes to make sure all subscriptions are processed at the same time.

which I forgot to do and thus everyone recieved to images and one Newspaper. DOH. Oh well learn by mistaking.

All my fault, mind you assembling, announcement writing and sending it myself doesn't help.

Enjoy that is a wrap.
