Good work everyone!!! I've just read the newsletter and it's very well done, I like it. :D

I'm looking forward to get the .pub file from blutec to begin the Italian Translation (hint hint  )

Also, question: when the announcement about the newsletter will be made, if the Italian translation isn't ready yet, do I make the announcement using the link to the English one or do I wait until my translation is ready?

Wait till your translation is ready, then you can announce it on the Italian forums.

Also are we putting it on the RSS feed and posting that feed on the forums? If so can we have the annoucemement written up for this to be done. Cheers.

Are we waiting for it to go in to the library first?

Yeah Kalypso I did this last Newsletter to show how people appreciate what we do. I see it more than most with me looking at a lot of sites.
Thanks

Small details.

1- This last newsletter is not shown on the Home page yet.

2- To see the previous ones, you have to test/guess and look for them
in the Library. Maybe we should give a direct link to these Newsletters in the
Home Page/Menu/Previous Newsletter.

3- On the new site, I beleive that we can get an email address

XXXXX@guildofmessengers.com

but if it is working I have no idea as to where or how
I am able to access it. I have tried sending a test message but it is not showing up yet.

Edited:
The message could not be delivered and was bonced back...

Blutec I noticed that the software you mentionned is not free. Might I suggest that for the newsletter you guys use 2 things: A Wiki for your To-do list and Google Docs for sharing files.

Watch these videos and you should understand the potential of making your work easier.

http://www.commoncraft.com/video-googledocs

I have experiences with both so I could help you with your questions.

Hi,

I have a little problem for my translation: I have absolutely no idea of what is a "no-lie-a-cake", somebody can explain to me?

please

Thanks.

Lol I did that same question to Lynnutte for the Italian translation.
I think Lynnutte won't get angry if I copy-paste her reply  :

Lynnutte wrote:
Not sure how well this will translate. There is a running joke through a lot of the community. Whenever someone says there is going to be cake, another person says the cake is a lie and there is no cake. Hope this clears the "no-lie-a-cake" up for you.

btw. The Italian Newsletter is ready. I'll upload it as soon as the Italian website ftp server stops sending me "Connection Failed" /doh

EDIT: here it is:

http://xoomer.alice.it/quartiereitalian ... %20ITA.pdf

Announcements done.

A side note: I've had a little discussion with Ian Atrus about the two forums there are on his website. And he said the 'newest' was only a little thing he placed there when the update of the phpbb code wasn't working for his server. But now that it works again the official forum will become again the old one. So I'll post there from now on.

The "The cake is a lie" meme is a reference to the game Portal.

Now I thought we couldn't say that, as defined in the Guild rule book Chapter 673; subsection 42; paragraph 34. "Under no circumstance must a Guild member make fun or remark on any part of the Bahro’s anatomy. Failure to comply could mean been linked in to the void by a sudden appearing Bahro”.

If they have a front end, they have to have a hind end. Szark, since when did I start reading rules books, let alone start following them.

Lynnutte, you are so naïve... no wonder why you thought that there would be cake...

There is always cake. Those that say there isn't any are only trying to fool everyone into believing it is a lie so they can keep it all to themselves!

Hey! Your right. There is no cake. I was wrong.

Like I said over at TCT if the cake is a lie then I bake a lie every Sunday 165 deg C for 25 minutes to make a lie easy to swallow.

Chocolate cake of cause.

I like chocolate cake with chocolate ice cream but my all time favorite is a full orange cake.

Around here, they don't make them anymore and I miss my orange cake a lot.

The Guild of Caterer now has a forum. We could ask them to cater for us at the next GoMe meeting (for real). What do you think about that?

If I eat the cake, can I suppress it in the french version of the newsletter (I still don't know how to translate the joke  ) ?

I wouldn't have a clue how to either. lol. Just do your best. Maybe write "... with no lie cake. (American joke that does not translate.) Or something like that. lol. Whatever will work for you.

Possible ways to translate it:
"(no joke) a cake"
or
"a cake (for real)".

If you think your readers are unlikely to understand the reference to Portal, then the best approach may be simply to remove the whole "no-lie" part, and just say "a cake."

This is what I used. Althought I know they won't understand it fully. :?
