In anticipation of taking the reins of the newspaper, I would like to start this section now, to post my thoughts and generate discussion for the December issue. In light of both the holidays and the announcement of the discontinuation of MORE, I'd like to push the December issue forward for release around the 15th of December, and have the next one out on February 1st. this will put the last minute rush in early December, and everyone can enjoy whatever holidays they like to celebrate. I sense a real drifting away from much of the community, which is to be expected with the announcement about MORE. I want to lighten the workload to give everyone a chance re-energize their enthusiasm. As always, I like to hear your thoughts... :?:

Good question! I was thinking about special D'ni dates and events box tucked somwhere in the Newspaper.
I might have a holiday Message from Rand in the works, thanks to a friend. I will keep you posted on that.

I think the GoMe should be a little more pro-active and consider coming up with some kind of a Uru Community Holiday Greeting back to Cyan(Rand and Chogon minimum) and put in the Newspaper of course !!! :idea:

If we are going to do that, I would like to get more of the community involved. We could invited each of the guilds to write a guild message as well as post on MOUL asking for short messages from the rest of the community. I would not want to presume to speak for the entire community without them having input in this.
We should create a XMas card with the MO:UL's XMas tree.

(since yesterday the trees let their leaves go, it's autumn, and that always means: loads of time to spend indoors with my favorite game... (not).

Tell that to our trees! they already changed colour, so they're not completely off. And nowadays we also have in Europe Indian summers (well, fashion and papers like to sell that to us), so autumn is over, it's now called halloween I think.
(me thinks: we are late with this issue already, the holiday season already begun, thanks to international connections, lol)

'Uru/More Guild Holiday Greeting to Cyan' open to Guild Members, and
'Uru/More Community Holiday Greeting to Cyan'.
The first post in each stickie is the MO:UL Christmas tree in winterized Delin. (someone may have to create THAT pic.)

Last time I tried to post 2 related threads, with slight differences, on MOUL, I was told it was spamming. That is why I suggested we contact the different guilds directly.

I agree with Lynnutte, contact directly the Guilds and receive a Xmas message from each one is better. :)
Then we could post a thread on MOUL Forums too, where they can create the Xmas pic. Or we could launch a contest in the November Newspaper asking people to create a nice pic for Xmas :D

From what I can gather you want to do a Christmas message piece in December newspaper. You want comments from the Guilds and community and in tandem you want to run a xmas pic contest for that article. Yes? If so Questions I have

Yes, but make it the 'D'ni Creativity Corner-Christmas Contest' instead of replace it.
The announcement for entries needs to support our publishing deadline, less a few days for judging. The winner won't know until it lands in the Newspaper. Do we need to give honorable mention to 2nd and 3rd by name only and let the 2nd and 3rd pics end up with the winner on the MOUL forum?
As for judging, if the judging is done on MOUL forum it may take too long. We could post the pics we receive on GoMe forum and start a poll for members to vote on best pic. It's just like picking the best pic for an article when you have many, editor has final say in case of a tie.

Here's a thought: Announce it in our November issue, THEN post it on the various forums. Entrants could submit as many pictures as they like via the gmail account by Nov 26th.
Would we be able to post the pictures on the Messenger website, and set it up for visitors to vote on them? If so, we could select the top 10, and from those, the Newspaper Staff could pick the winner. This would get everyone involved and also direct people to our website. We'd leave the voting open for a couple of weeks, in time to meet our deadline.

Yeah Szark, here's my take on this...no credit given or taken, just coalescing thoughts:
Announce Christmas Pic Contest on MOUL forum to submit pics to GoMe, then come to GoMe to vote, give deadline for pics and judging NOW, to be followed up in Nov News. Specify that if there is a tie, the GoMe will be tiebreaker and announce in December issue.
I wish I remembered how the last RAD contest pics were submitted and voted on. I think it was in house (GoW, GoMa) but I could be mistaken. Anyway the contest is OURs, the Final call, where and when by, should be OURs also. I just don't want the idea, post, thread, results or announcement to be hijacked.

It's not a big secret, but we announce it in the paper first in order to have the "scoop". All references after that, whether they are placed by us or others will (hopefully) mention that it was announced in the newspaper, giving us a bit of "free" advertising!
People like to offer their opinions, we should definitely have some sort of public vote.
We could announce the contest, and where to submit pictures. November issue comes out around the 7th(?). Pictures could be submitted through the end of the month, with voting to take place first week of December.
Question: Do we limit it to Uru, Myst Universe, or pictures in general? (Anything you can produce in a .jpg format)
