We didn't establish a whole lot of rules, other than they had to be from within the Myst Universe and "appropriate for all ages"! Multiple entries by the same explorer should be fine. :) 2. For the purposes of judging, I'd like to leave any reference as to the photographer out. I'd like to have the photo judged on its own merit. (This will also allow newspaper staff members to enter.) 3. If only 1 explorer enters, we'll have a good chuckle and send it to Cyan anyway! :lol: Details, details... Al I'm sorta lookin' at you :roll: :roll: as the "officiator/arbitrator" on this. I'll let you handle any questions that competitors may have. Where do we want to "Store" the photos?

Yes, in reading through the Holiday thread, the liasons were to put it in the various threads (mentioning "as announced in the GoMe Newspaper!" :wink: ) directing explorers to submit via
. Perhaps a link to the newspaper as well?
Is anyone familiar with photobucket? Is this a possible place to put the various photos for viewing? It was never really clear where we were going to post the photos for viewing.
It is possible to create a free account at Photobucket but the maximum size and bandwidth are limited.

Photobucket is a nice place to host the pics. Since we work much with pics we could create an account there that we can use to host all of them.
1GB upload limit 25GB Bandwidth limit. I think that should be ok. I already have an account so someone else would have to start one up under the GoMe referring to g-mail account.

Yes, Donahoo asked me about it in SL when I announced the November Newsletter was out. She sent in two, 'caused she asked if more than one pic could be entered and I said 'right on'. Also I said to add her name so when the winnah was picked, someone would know who sent it in.

This is what I would do. Number the pics as they come in and use the same number for Photobucket (Like what has been done already 101 and 102 see Theremin's PM). Keep the names associated with the number on a separate list on Wiki (Which I have done for you. Look under December's issue, just below Deadlines). Nice to keep who has done them for the newspaper. We have to scoop something. :D

When people ask if they can submit 2 photos, you say "right on". If people ask if they can combine 2 photos, you say "", when people ask if they can submit a photo of a Bahro feasting on an explorer's child, etc., etc.
And feel free to peruse the entries, post them as such, etc.
My preference for the photos would be to (initially) not have names associated with them. This will (sort of, maybe not really) guarantee an "impartial" vote. It will also allow Newspaper staff to enter photos since the judging will be done by the community-at-large, and it won't look like we're being unfavorable. This opinion is up for debate, what does everyone else think?

Woo Hoo we are good! :D I touched up Donahoo's photo's, she is more than welcome to submit altered ones. (or more if she wants) It's coming together Al, don't sweat it. I was a but nervous myself a few hours ago... :lol:

Public vote. In order for the public to vote they must be able to see the number associated with the said image. When uploading to photobucket can you give it a numbered title. I have done the 3 so far. If you don't make a title for it then when looked at by public they will only see a picture with no title. If having problems with this then just carry on and I will attend to it. It is difficult to do it after the upload.

I beleive you should add this info to the first post(AlKaera's) of this thread to ensure that everything is very
clear.
In his post on MO:UL, Szark could add the info about creators to not show personnal ID on their picture(s).
Reasons:
1- You expect creators to sent you their images for a first screening.
2- To be able for them to directly upload their image(s) to your Photobucket account, you would have to give them the password for uploading an image.(a login is necessary)
Btw, the idea of keeping the creators names secret is a very good one, indeed.

Is the FORUM decided on? Will it be one forum only? Will it be our forum? Do the voters need to register to vote for the pics? I would hope NOT.

Nanouk, it doesn't necessarily have to be a doctored photo. If you have a photo which strikes you as having a sense of the holiday spirit, that can be entered. (Remember, Dec 25th "Down Under" is a rather warm and pleasant time of year.)
Al, you are correct, you will need to download the photo to your computer and then upload it to photobucket. As we do, enter the appropriate info into the wiki, this should prevent any duplicates from occurring. (2 same photos from same person)
The voting forum has yet to be decided on. I would tend to lean toward having it on our forum, to prevent inadvertent problems caused by moderators who may be unaware of what we are doing. I'm open to other ideas, however.
Since we're not awarding money or trips or anything, I don't think we need to police the voting too much. Registered or anonymous voting should be fine.
(Don't forget, Al, anyone can enter photos...)
