That Blender vid, yes I have seen it and yes very impressive.
I've uploaded a couple more Real-Life photos, both by the same photographer. I don't want to use more than 1 picture from a photographer in any particular magazine, so we can use the other later if we want.
There's only a few, but here they are, it'll give you sort of an idea of what I'm looking for in terms of Real photos.
That's not me! Silly guy.
I´ve uploaded the first version of the Magazine to the layout.
There are also some questions I´ve asked over there.
For the Italian Ahyoheek article, cut out the "by Sheykan" in the title and add its name in the "Written by:" with me, please.
A part for this detail, I like it! There are a couple of typos around but it's nice.
Polgara, I can't seem to find your questions! :( Where did you post them?
Looking excellent, for sure! To add to Leo's comment, I want the article bylines near (next to, underneath, whatever looks good) to the Title of the article, rather than at the end. Where appropriate, list it as "Story and photos by..."
If we have enough RL photos, do you think we should separate each article with a photo?
Clat may have some illustrations for his interview, he'll be sending them later, probably along with the cover.
I added my article to the wiki, I think. I'm not quite sure what it's called. I also have three pictures that go with my article. Is that okay?

They´re at the layout where the file is posted.

Yes it is a Wiki of sorts. Or as we like to call them Book Pages.
Oh and I forgot. One of the images for Digital Age (the old framed image) just won me first place out of 12 images. Sorry no link to the contenders as it is a private paid for site. :D I am not looking for a pat of the back just thought I would share my good fortune. :D
PS: Polgara I made some comments about the issue on the Layout page for you. Looking good.......really good. Love how that Delin/Tsogal image hits you in the face.
Hope it was a nice prize, Szark! You deserve it.
LostThyme wrote:Well done, only one thing you forgot to do (not sure if you can, I think you can) if to change the "Work Flow" from Draft to Restricted. Apart from that great. I have added your srticle to the issue's main wiki page (list of content). Made a link to the images in Photobucket you uploaded, well done there too. :DI added my article to the wiki, I think. I knew I had something forgotten to tell her, thanks Szark.

Lunanne no problem (Seems I just can't help myself......though I am trying hard to stand back a bit)

I wouldn´t do that. Each one of them is beautiful and you can enjoy it, but if there are too many of them you don´t really see the single photo anymore. Just like children with too much toys. I would take about 3 max in one issue.
As for the short intro for the magazine, I wouldn´t put it together with the table of contents. Too much on one page (with the impressum) and it´s just in this issue. I would leave it on the next page.

Have to move that over to Tanshin as he has made that image, I just used it.
Added some comments to the layout article.
New version online. Comments in layout section.
Comments on the layout page folks. Spent a coulpe of hours going through it...though not finished yet.
Are we done with editing the articles? It might be useful if the translators could start so the different versions of the newspaper appear around the same time.
More comments on Layout page Polgara, regarding weblinks
Do we know if there will be translated versions of the magazine? Leonardo indicated to me that he would not be translating to an Italian version. I know the translators work on the website, but I think if we wanted the magazine translated too we need to be sure they want to do that.
However, the question of "are we done editing the articles" is a very good thing to ask, regardless. THEREMIN! Are we done yet?
For the purpose of translating I'd say yes, we're done editing. Any editing changes we do make at this point will be extremely minor, and I do know the structure of different languages doesn't always allow for a straight translation like it does from American to English.
Translators will have full control over whatever they translate- to present it in any fashion/structure/whatever they choose. I can't check on their work anyway, so I'll just have to trust them... LOL (Could someone give me alist of the Translation for "Theremin" is in every laguage?... :P JK)
I know White wanted to translate the magazine in German, and Alaedrain said she was available for doing the french one.
Now, White is particularly busy right now, but you can still send him a PM and see what he wants to do
Alaedrain, is not active right now but she said me that we can PM her and she would translate the newspaper
New version is online.
I´m gone over the weekend, not back before Monday.
Busy or not, of course I'm going to write a German version of the magazine. The question is, should we just enable entry translation in the wiki (haven't tried yet if that works) or do our translations offline and then send them to the editors by PM? We could also start a "chapter" for each of the languages. And: We (the translators) should know all the out-of-article text in the magazine, so we can provide translations for that as well.
Oh, and the German word for "Theremin" is "Sklaventreiber". ![]()
To all writers: I am going to start translation now. PLEASE REPORT ANY LAST-MINUTE CHANGES you are going to make to your article(s) either in this thread or as a PM to Alaedrain and me (and Lunanne if she does a Dutch translation, which I hope) so we can reflect the changes in our respective translations.
Polgara. How to embed weblinks in Scribus: After trying out those weblinks myself I think the best solution is to embed them. Scribus goes about this a little different than say MSWord or this website.
1 - Change the text colour of what is to be the weblink (what people will see) I see we are sticking with Blue.
2 - Make a new text box the same size as the above coloured text.
3 - Right click on the new text box looking for PDF Options Click on "Is PDF Annotation"
4 - Again Right click the new text box and looking for PDF Options but this time you have a new command "Annotation Properties" click this.
5 - You now have a new dialogue box. In the drop down box choose "External Web Link" A Destination box will appear, paste your weblink here.
6 - Click ok.
So as you can see we aren't embedding the link inside the text but ontop of the text.
Hope this helps
