I just read your quote as saying you guessed that not anything was needed, so I wondered if another might be appropriate to be sure, direct from Lynnutte.
My error in judgement maybe. If the first PM isn't answered having two unanswered PMs doesn't improve things.

news from the assembling front: I haven't heard from editor till so far, I did sent Lynnutte a PM monday aug 11 (regarding sept article ideas), and it's in my sent items, so I guess she picked that one up, but I do am concerned not hearing from her in any way, as aperson or as editor.

I believe there must be some reason why she can't be online an do the job.

But I do want to state again we need some more structure in this process, every time it's a hassle and with more ppl involved (proofreader, translators) and more exciting times and news to come it doesn't help the process me being laidback (that's a hassle also, it's not my nature to be laidback, but the only way to not get dissapointed).

But for now I'll continue my vacation, but it's not easy: I have sent friends and family away that would come over this week, saying I had a job to do (that I love to do), and I do enjoy my vacation on my own, but I feel kinda stupid now, but that's on my part, I don't want to blame anyone, just say this, so it could help me next time to be again strong in the process and in my duties and fun :) In september my RL jobb is asking more of me, so I have to manage time better by then.

Szark: lol, my eyes, did you spot them at TMP or my flickr page? it's for an art project in There, the eyes behind/of the avatars. Thank you for the compliment, it felt great reading that and makes me more aware of what my eyes mean to me :D

edit: I now see that Lynnutte was online yesterday (http://messengers.sixpencemedia.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=3824#p3824), and posted a relpy in a thread, so now I can leave my bad feelings about an RL emergency aside. I guess she's busy doing preparations for the job then. But I do wish for some more interaction/information on that part, don't want to be in the dark and keep others in the dark (translators, proofreader). I think I have this hassle every (newsletter)time, is it me then? Please tell me.

grtz, blutec

I'm going to withhold most of my thoughts until I have a better understanding of the situation. I will only say this: It would have been nice to have been given an update on the "deadline" when it became apparent that the old one would not work.

Does Lynnutte have a back-up person? Right now I know that she is really busy with something having to do with kids and school.
If not, I suggest Szark or blutec. They seem to be the most involved in it.

Arr Me, no. I was offered that job a while back at a different place and I do not have the skills for that, at all. Sorry and no, no backup.
Szark

Ps also I am backing off from certain things so i can concentrate on the Liaison/Gohper thingy, Weekly Upadates, Photoshop learning and also trying to write articles.

Er... I'm no editor, I can manage part of the editor's process like I've been doing the past times (lending the whip and such to get the articles in and saying deadline is due), but I think all articles are there now, but I haven't kept track of them, and I assume they are all at Lynnutte's for approval, editing and set an order in that, and write an editorial intro, for that's the editor's job.
We could do this together in this thread, all discussing what and how it should get in the newsletter if Lynnutte isn't going to sign in. But I think that would be Lynnutte's call also, to say she's not going to make it (like with the Mysterium edition).

This is the reason why I'm raving all this time for a kinda project management system so we can step in the process (if needed) and know where we are and what has already been done. I don't know the status of the articles, so for me they are all in proofreading/editing's approval state, but again I don't have the actual articles (well, some I have because I was cc-ed at proofreading).

I'll be having a good dinner and a good night's sleep and will sign in tomorrow again.

 to put more oil on the fire; you are aware I bougt me a laptop to do this assembling job on location?
(found another whip, lol, hope this one works on editor  )

grtz, blutec

I'm also going to say "Not me!".

And I'm sorry if this sounds a little petty or un-team-like, but I want to discourage an environment where people can drop things on the ground and take off without a word, and come back and discover that everything is just fine because we all hopped on the fire drill and solved the crisis. That's really no fun for the rest of us, we're all just volunteers here. If you're going to be too busy, let people know, and if there's something you were going to work on, delegate it to someone else (with that person's acceptance). Please? I feel it's a far more responsible way to do things.

Hello guys. Lynnutte is taking a much needed break right now so she is unfortunately no longer the editor-in-chief of the newsletter.

So ... I have been proposed the job and I accepted it for this edition only. Which means that everything you guys did/asked/sent to Lynnutte this month, please send them again to me ASAP. I do not know the extend of all the work Lynnutte did for the Newsletter but I'll try to do my best.
I also want each of you to tell me what is the status regarding your work for the August Newsletter (example: Everything done / Waiting for X thing from me / Doing X thing)

Questions are always welcomed.
Thanks a lot everyone. ;)

Here are the things i'll like to get an update on
Alkaera: Proofreading, editing of GoMe articles for the newsletter and Final review of the newsletter pdf for blutec
Angelfire: Puzzle maker for the newsletter
Szark: Photographer, Reporter
Blutec: Assembling newsletter and distributing drafts (corrections, translations, final pdf)
Leonardo: Italian Translator and posting it on italian forums.
Gbadji: French translator
Nanouk_Metal: Reporter
Marten: Reporter

Nanouk reports things but unfortunalty doesn't write them up, that is why I put Writer/Reporter.

As I responded in your PM to me. Everything that I have been sent is done and sent back to the originator. The last thing I do is go over everything from blutec, one last time, before it is sent to editor and on to publication. blutec is, as was stated, waiting on finals from editor so that she can do the pdf thing.

I agree Szark. Yippee! so that's how it's spelled 0.0, there's no litlle yellow guy for yippie in our smilies drawer. Seriosly tho, with blutec on the end of this, I expect one more turn around from her before going to production. Unless it already is and I was bypassed due to schedule pressure.
shame, shame... unforced errors come that way.

Got it, thank you Andros.

@Nanouk: I'm not downloading emails on my PC via POP3, Just using a hotmail account...and it usually says if attachments are blocked :?

Never mind....now I have all I need to begin my work

@AlKaera: I'm sorry for that. I asked Lynnutte if she could send me the articles once they are ready, but before blutec puts them in the layout...just to have more time to translate. But if you do a proofread after the Newsletter is assembled we'll continue to do as before, translate once the English one is ready. 8)

Sorry for double posting:
I was reading the "Guilding" article by Szark and I saw that in the GoMa section you talk of the new structure of the GoMa, but you call the GMs Guild Masters; they were Guild Masters before the changes, now they're Grand Masters.

This should read

Plus at the end the end it should read see issue 15 of the Archiver either Coming soon.

Nitpick: "now has" might flow a little better than "has now got". But it's not really a problem as-is.

Nitpickers. :d :D Seriously though this is why I sent the articles to yourself and AlKaera, for you to nitpick in advance. But as you say it is no biggy. We got to get Wiki, off to do some research on Wiki Media.

Do you think I would have left it at that Adros, you should know me better then that. :P  :D I sent blutec an e-mail last night with these changes.
I should have mentioned it in my post, my bad.

got it, and will make it into this one (with Marten's correction):

Plus at the end the end I'll put see issue 15 of the Archiver either Coming soon.

if this isn't correct, please PM me with the right sentences, it's quite a puzzle for me to get it from this thread and my mind is not in a word-puzzle state ;)

edit: thanks Szark I now got to your email, that's the way (or PM) I like it to have addressed :)

Maybe I've lost the August Newsletter Discussion post, maybe there wasn't one per se. blutec sent the mdi (pdf not working she said) to Andros and me for final review via PM. We both responded for final edits and back in her (french) house.
It's real good, thanks all. It even has GoMe watermarks on the pages. :o Very nice blutec.

There wasn't a new thread. I thread per month seem acceptable. A suggestion fior the next edition would be to update the first post which would be an update status of what is done/need to be done.

In that case, the person who is managing the the next newsletter needs to make the first post for it.

Have you found any among our new messengers who might want to step up to it, Andros? :)

Well my restructuring of the Newsletter has not even began so I'm not ready to hand the job over to someone else.
What would be interesting would be having a co-editor for the September edition and hand them the Newsletter for the October edition. Also, I believe that the Newsletter deserves to have an editor who have proven himself/herself to be able to handle such a big responsibility. Right now I haven't find(nor have I looked for) this person.

If I'm reading between your lines Marten ( ;) ), the answers you are looking for are;
- I'll be the editor of the October edition
- Fine. I forgot to make a September topic. I'm doing it right away.

Heheheh.

By the way, a big THANK YOU to Veralun in his Myst Online Moderator capacity; he amended the old "Sign up for the newsletter!" discussion at the Myst Online forum so that the first post directs people to the correct signup sheet. The post had never been updated, and occasionally people would not read the whole thread (fairly assuming it to be filled with "sign me up! requests) and would not see that about 6 or 7 posts in, we had changed the signup rules a bit.
