Mysterium

After some careful and skillful negotiating, the Mysterium committee has finally nailed down a hotel where the event will take place!  And with that completed, they have also opened up registration!

As was announced back at the end of January, the location for this year is going to be Rochester, New York from August 1st to the 4th.

The nightly rate is $109 for the four days of the event plus one or two nights on either end if you'd like to stay a bit longer.

We will have coverage of any big announcements from the event in August.  To all those who plan to attend: have fun!

As is tradition with every Mysterium, it's time to design a logo for this year's convention!  Those explorers that are artistically inclined are welcome to enter for a chance to have their work featured on the official t-shirt and memorabilia.  The theme for this year's logo is none other than Myst Island itself.  Past years' themes included Kadish Tolesa (2010), Amateria (2011), and most recently, Mechanical Age for 2012's Mysterium.

A list of requirements for the image you want to submit, such as format, resolution, etc. are at the original announcement on the site.

All submissions must be in by April 15th so be sure to get your entries in as soon as possible.  For more details on this year's convention, visit our previous news post.

Le Falling Man Group n'ignore en rien l'attente impatiente dans laquelle se trouvent de nombreux fans en ce qui concerne le prochain Mysterium. Mais ils ont de bonnes nouvelles : le lieu où se déroulera le Mysterium 2013 a finalement été décidé ! Il s'agit de Rochester, dans l’État de New York.

 Rochester est très bien situé, dans le Nord-Ouest de l’État de New York. La ville se trouve sur le bord du Lac Ontario et à moins d'un jour de route de nombreuses villes importantes telles que Toronto, New York City, Philadelphie, Buffalo, Washington DC ou Boston. La ville est magnifique durant l’Été, et remplie de choses intéressantes à faire pour des fans de Myst. En voici une courte liste :

• Le Strong Museum of Play (comprenant également un Centre International de l'Histoire des Jeux Électroniques, ainsi qu'un Jardin aux Papillons !)

• La Maison George Eastman, un musée de la Photographie et du Film

• Un centre scientifique équipé d'un planétarium

• Le Parc d'Attractions Seabreeze (accessible en bus)

• Le Cinema Dryden (un des seuls endroits aux États-Unis pouvant projeter du film-nitrate) – et de nombreux parcs et sentiers de randonné

With Mysterium 2012 over, Falling Man Group starts looking forward to 2013.

Capella has become their new Chair!  She’s been around the community for ages and the group feels she’ll be a great asset.

On Myst's 20th anniversary and a possible Mysterium in Spokane:

"Because of [previous discussions and feedback], the FMG board felt that (especially in light of there being less space at Cyan now), Spokane & Cyan trips should be reserved for those times when Cyan has something to share, and can put its best face forward."

Despite this, FMG does not discourage anyone who would like to try to make a bid for Spokane anyway, including Cyan if they so choose.
