A Journey Without an Ending: Part 3 - The Ending Has Not Yet Been Written

Disclaimer: This series of articles is written in-character (IC) and are mainly based on known facts or research. Although Max has taken some liberties or "artistic license" in some parts, like in adapting or intertwining the gameplay or the fiction into facts of reality, the article has been fact-checked by others in the GoMe and in most aspects is, to the best of our knowledge, factually accurate.

We learned in the first part of this series how John Loftin and Elias Zandi made their first expedition to D'ni in 1988 utilizing lava tunnels located in the desert in New Mexico. During later expeditions, they managed to explore the cavern and get their first glimpses of the D'ni culture and history.

In the second part, we learned how the D'ni Restoration Council (DRC) was eventually founded after Elias Zandi passed away, leaving the property to his son Jeff Zandi, while he left his vast fortune to the members of the DRC to continue the restoration. By the end of 1997, the DRC had established themselves in the cavern on permanent basis, overseeing the restoration and further exploring the D'ni and the different Ages.Lire la suite

A Journey Without An Ending: Part 2 - The Journey Continues

Disclaimer: This series of articles is written in-character (IC) and are mainly based on known facts or research. Although Max has taken some liberties or "artistic license" in some parts, like in adapting or intertwining the gameplay or the fiction into facts of reality, the article has been fact-checked by others in the GoMe and in most aspects is, to the best of our knowledge, factually accurate.

In Part 1, we learned how John Loftin discovered an entrance to the large cavern known as D'ni and how Elias Zandi and Loftin made their first expeditions down the lava tunnels.  Later, during a more than three-week-long expedition, they were accompanied by Dr. Richard A. Watson as the third member of their group of explorers. On that trip down to the cavern in the summer of 1991, John Loftin lost his life in a tragic accident that left the other two absolutely devastated. Despite this enormous setback and loss of life, Zandi and Watson were still determined to carry on and explore further what their late companion had discovered.

They had also started to work on the writings they had brought with them back to the surface; specifically, attempting to translate what, to their knowledge at the time, was a dead language.  In the latter part of 1991, they were finally able to translate some journals written by a young woman known as  Katran  or Catherine (she had been called both, apparently due to a mispronunciation by her husband).  Elias had also in correspondence with  Rand  and Robyn Miller told them about the group's progress and kept them updated on their findings.   Lire la suite

The Return of Heritage Night

Heritage Night is back yet again!

For those that have not heard of it, It is an event where new explorers can learn all about the history of what has happened in the cavern so far. We strive to make sure people know what has come before them. The schedule for this round is a bit wacky, so these weeks are the confirmed ones that we'll be doing before Mysterium. I'll add the August schedule once I know for sure what's up.

HN will take place on every Sunday in July at 12:00 KI time in the Heritage Night Hood.

Heritage Night was started in late 2010 by Carl Palmner for the benefit of new explorers who could not be there for the Previous Restorations.

Heritage Night is a weekly event where one section of (Game Tap Era) Myst Online URU Live's History is retold in the IC POV for the benefit of new explorers who have not heard the History of what came before..

Heritage Night was started by Carl Palmner in Late 2010 and is now on its Third incarnation, managed by Calum Traveler (DTC) and hosted by whomever is selected for that night. It is held in the Heritage Night Bevin, and typically runs for One hour (although it may go on longer depending on the script).

As always, we are looking for Hosts. If you are interrested in Hosting Heritage Night, or even are simply wanting to know more Infomation about Heritage Night, please contact DTC at KI#: 203751

Depending on the Host of the evening, there may be a Field Trip planned for each evening, related to that night's specific topic.  If possible, a Marker Game, detailing key events noted durring the night, will be handed out as well.
