A feather don't make a hen and rumours don't count as truth. But I've chatted
with a few peeps now that are about to arrange a CavCon Awarness Party ...
But as longs as this Not Announced on URU Forums (as a matter of a fact)
it's Mere Rumours! ... Anybody got more Info to share on the subject?
/ Max /
Nope, sorry. We were asked to publish information about it, but we had essentially no information to publish, so we abstained from doing so.
When I was doing CC'ing last week someone sent a PM about this...But as I was in Ae'gura, you know how fast the chat can go there....Plus I was making many announcements. They linked out before I could inquire more. All they sent me was date of a weeklong festival. No more info than that. Sorry I'm no help.
I briefly toyed with an idea of the July "Winter Wonderland" event in Delin but scrubbed it due to the fact I just don't have the time, outside of my weeekly Crier duties and the WHI articles I'm working on.
Sorry, perhaps someone else could take over Event Coordination and the Crier Event Schedule? I would find it most helpful.
Like Ly said, there was very little info about this...just a link to an empty calendar. Nothing on the MOUL forums even. That's why I rejected the news post submitted. So far, there's been no reason to resurrect the post.
It appears to have materialized very suddenly.

Posted just one day ahead of a weeklong event... well, I guess I'll just be glad something was finally posted. :)
In addition to the events scheduled, Second Life events are being scheduled for 7/28.
Except from e-mail I received about it:
"...held on Peaudelune's island and it will start with Beach 7:30am SLT -Noon SLT ( 9:30am CST – 2PMCST). Other events will be posted for the day at a later time.
Please place Tai'lhar's cone outside of your businesses and homes for this week."
I don't think a news post is required at this point then - unless one of you already started one? No point in announcing something that's already going on.
Given that it's a full week shindig with multiple events along the week, I think it's worth posting even now.
It would be best to ressurrect the post that was shelved. I'll see if I can do that.
Update: OK, I edited http://www.guildofmessengers.com/en/content/cavecon-july-22-thru-28th and moved it to approved. To get it to appear where it needed to be in the queue, I also mangled the submission date to today. It's still not copying to other sites (e.g. http://rel.to/) though so maybe Leo or someone else who has more Drupal expertise has an idea on that.
As for why the original post didn't make it to News (for anyone who reads this thread and wonders)... "I'm trying to get people together to run an event" isn't really news. It's more like a classified ad. But "I've got people together and we're running an event" IS news. That, we'll happily publish.
I know that this stance may seem troublesome to someone who is trying to pull together an event. If you're trying to organize an event and are seeking others to assist you, your best bet is to go to the various forums in the community, and post. Going through the trouble of creating the acccounts and posting and catering to each demographic (figuring out who you want to invite and who won't be interested) demonstrates a level of committment and follow-through. There's a whole psychology to it :)
Once again, well put, Marten! ![]()
Good points. ![]()
I think we'd still all rather have had more forewarning for these events, but perhaps it is best to announce an event of this magnitude.
Well, in my opinion as an Explorer...(and not a Messenger)...The visitor section would be a perfect place to post something about seeking help for event.
In this unique case, nobody really stood up and said "Oh, hey...yeah, there is an week of events scheduled: So far we have A, B, C...More to be added soon! Please tell people to contact X to schedule additional events." Even we were left wondering if/when there were actual events to be held.
(/shrug)
All is well that ends well, I guess.
The article appears correctly on the RSS feed, it's just that rel.to needs its time to catch up...it's not importing the news "live" as it used to, it's a cron based action so page loading is faster.
