Kommt am Samstag, dem 24. Juli, mit auf eine musikalische Reise entlang der Seidenstrasse von der alten Hauptstadt Chinas, Chang'an, nach Istanbul. Ktahdn erzählt uns dazu eine Geschichte, sowohl über Voice-Chat als auch schriftlich.

Irgendwie stellt sich die Frage, warum so etwas in die Höhle gehört. Die Antwort ist komplex und verzweigt, genau wie die Seidenstrassen. Die Kurzfassung ist, dass die Wurzeln jeder Show, die ich jemals gemacht habe, in der Höhle liegen, da ich hier damit begonnen habe. Ausserdem hatten auch die D'ni einen Entdeckerdrang, auch wenn sie Bücher statt Kamelen benutzten.

Empfehlungen: Es wird eine lange Reise. Ihr braucht Kleidung, die sowohl für Wüsten als auch für Bergpässe geeignet ist. In der Regel können wir in Karawanserais übernachten, aber es ist auf jeden Fall nicht falsch, eine Notunterkunft dabei zu haben, für den Fall, dass etwas schief läuft; auf einer Reise dieses Ausmasses muss ja fast etwas passieren. Kamele werden vom Karawanenführer zur Verfügung gestellt (Schnuckelchen ist für Jane reserviert). Ihr braucht einen Schlaf- und einen Rucksack.
Nicht alle werden von Anfang bis Ende an Bord sein. Händler reisen in der Regel von einer grösseren Stadt zur nächsten, und im Verlauf der Reise werden Gefährten dazukommen und uns verlassen. Ein neuer "Tag" auf der Strecke beginnt etwa jede Stunde.

Join us on Saturday, July 24 for a journey along the Silk Road from the ancient capital of China, Chang'an, to Istanbul in music. There will be narration both by voice and in text chat by Ktahdn.

One could ask what this has to do with the Cavern. The answer is complex, and braided, just as the Silk Routes are. The short version is that the roots of every show I've done come from the Cavern, as that's where I got my start. Besides, the D'ni had their explorer streak even if they used books instead of camels.

Recommendations: It's a long trip. You'll need clothing appropriate to both desert and high passes. Most of the time we'll be staying in caravanserais but you might think about bringing emergency shelter in case something goes wrong; in a journey of this magnitude, something is bound to happen. Camels will be provided by the caravan master (Buttercup is reserved for Jane). You'll need a bedroll and a personal pack.

Not everyone will be on board from start to finish. Traders usuallly go from one major town to the next, and people will be joining and leaving as we proceed. A new "day" on the trail will begin roughly each hour.
