Found a link with outdated information (the editor isn't to be found on provided downloadlink):
logeditor - Uru Chat Log Editor - A tool to clean up chat logs, by grayman3

I couldn't find a link on rel.to for the Uru Chat Log Formatter at Stoneship.org:
http://stoneship.org/myst/uru_chat_log_formatter/

Eden Gira was in the list of previously deactivated sites.  I am glad to hear they are back.

BIG UPDATE tonight.  I have added all of the links posted up to this point.  I'm certain there are errors - I've run out of time to check all of these, to make certain that twitter items are linked against appropriate blog sites where relevant, that the names I've chosen are correct, etcetera.

So, I am looking forward to Gorobay's list of fixes :)

As blutec mentioned, logeditor is no longer available.

kaelri should point to http://ecomm1.csug.rochester.edu/~lore/unboundhearts/.

catuntermeyer_t should have a Twitter logo associated with it.

Description editions:
catuntermeyer_t: Catherine Untermeyer's Twitter
webcc: WebCC

Retribution's description gives the false implication that it involves playing through Myst on YouTube. Although it takes place on Myst, the game is a different one.

Why does nulp have a parenthesized question mark by it?

Most IAWB entries point to specific dates' archives. Some (ulevolution, jehral, plinthon, and dniclock) don't. Is that intentional? Speaking of which, dniclock doesn't work for me.

Keyowrd editions:
jehral: jerahl
rebuilder: rebuilder_t
Retribution: retribution

I missed blutec's post because I didn't realize there was something on the next page.  Sorry.  Thanks blutec and Gorobay!

* Disabled logeditor
* Added logformatter
* Updated kaelri's URL
* Updated description of catuntermeyer_t, set the 'twitter' flag on it
* Updated description of webcc
* Lowercased the tag retribution, updated description
* Removed (?) in nulp's description
* Corrected spelling of tag jerahl
* Added the missing _t on rebuilder_t

I don't have a good answer for the Internet Archive links being inconsistent, except that since resuming adding links after Lunanne's (fantastic) efforts, I have added the wayback links that people have suggested exactly in the format they've been given to me.  I can go back and re-evaluate these items to make them point to specific entries next month when I have some more time to work on rel.to.

I will not be able to apply any other fixes to rel.to until next month - if all goes well I'll be catching up with the news on Memorial Day. :)

rel.to/archiver leads to a page at the TCT: http://www.thecaverntoday.com/Archiver, but it says "Not Found -- Sorry, but you are looking for something that isn't here."

(for that matter: I couldn't find the old archivers to download somewhere, luckily I found them in my own archive and didn't search any further, do we host them here perhaps?)

The web archive can be a bit buggy with links to the index page and not to a page of a specific date.  if a link doesn't work trying again at a later time helps.  For example, the dniclock one works for me now.

The TCT website has been revamped some time ago and it seems they focused only on the Podcasts, the Archiver and other things (Cyan Pizza Party Video come to my mind) are no longer there. Try asking on their forum if they have The Archiver stored somewhere; it doesn't sound good to store here a page with their contents (people may get the impression those were made by us) unless they explicitly accept.

dniclock now works for me too.

Most entries for Twitter accounts use their owner's alias, even if the Twitter page has their real name; e.g. it is hoikas_t, not adamjohnson_t. Therefore, brendandorr_t should be nadnerb_t, and the description should call him Nadnerb.

jab > jas
myridenan_t > myridean_t

Why is "Guild of Healers" thrice abbreviated as "goheal"? By the pattern of the other guilds it should be "goh".

gome_t: missing apostrophe
goarch_t, goc_t, ederdoors_t: misplaced apostrophes
jas333_t > jas_t
mtnmanuru_t > mtnman_t
urujishin_t > jishin_t
urukeshwyn_t > keshwyn_t

To she who has the Lunanne_ic Twitter acccount: do you prefer Luna or Lunanne?

I actually prefer "Luna(nne)"  as not to confuse people too much.

I'll process this feedback soon, now that I'm back from vacation :)

Ghaelen has endorsed "goheal" - she told me she likes the name that way.  Also, it fits the same pattern as "goarch" which wasn't questioned. :)

At this time, only the guilds that have the guild pubs have the very short names.  Thus, Guild of Cartographers gets the short name of "GoC", while the Guild of Caterers has (if I recall correctly) the much longer name gocater.

This isn't necessarily fair, but it is the approach I chose 2.5 years ago, for those who are curious.

Okay. In that case goh_rss should be goheal_rss.

I'm not sure this link isn't on Rel.to but I couldn't find it:

http://uru.zero-factorial.com/index.php?page=gallery

It has been posted on the MOUL Forums in the Bevin/Seret Discussion

I have not yet made the necessary updates but I should have time for that this coming weekend.  And Gorobay is right again - the rss for the healers should (for consistency) be goheal_rss, not goh_rss.  Whoops!

Instead of doing the update tonight, I chose instead to write up this job description for a developer for rel.to.

Job: rel.to software programmer

Experience Required:  Knowledge of PHP, mySQL, good design practices a must.  HTML and dynamic web technologies (DHTML/Javascript/AJAX) are highly desired.

Description:  The selected candidate will rearchitect the rel.to database and software to support the addition of new features, and will then begin the implementation of those new features (noted below) in whatever order preferred by the candidate.  (The current implementation of rel.to is designed to be simple to administrate via spreadsheet - it is not designed for efficiency or extendability.)  The candidate may also (and is encouraged to) propose new ideas for features and the user interface, although these ideas will need to be discussed with the site administrator before implementation.

The rearchitecting of rel.to will accomplish the following:

  • rel.to currently operates off of two tables, and in the main table, several fields are used to contain multiple elements of data.  The redesign will eliminate the need to use regexp matching on these fields to isolate specific data, embracing the power and capability of the mySQL RDBMS.
  • The redesign will provide methods to [a] combine the database into a spreadsheet (comma separated values), and [b] take a spreadsheet as an input and redistribute its data into the appropriate tables.  This will enable continued administration of the site via spreadsheet.
  • The redesign will accomodate the "nesting" of information on rel.to to 5 levels (currently information can only be nested to 4 levels - page / heading / entry / immediate children).  The change will permit the introduction of subheadings.

The following new features are desired for rel.to. (Note that while some features might require Javascript, the site must continue to work without those features for users who do not have Javascript enabled.):

  • Site Administration Features
    • Add user accounts and security levels; determination of how many security levels and what they do, to be determined in discussion with the site administrator
    • Make it possible to associate database entries with the aforementioned user accounts and/or security levels (i.e., a specific entry may be set as editable by user xyzzy and/or by any user with a security level of some value or higher)
    • Add an administration module that permits editing of the database according to the user account/security level model.  Users should be able to add new entries that, depending on user's level, are either submitted to a queue for approval or are automatically added to the database with permission for the submitting user and users of higher security levels to perform edits.
    • Provide a way for site users to apply for accounts, and an authorization scheme for the site admiinstrator to approve accounts
    • Provide a way to detect and prevent duplicate entries in the database (for both primary and secondary keywords)
  • Fix foreign language character issues (make searches truly diacritic-insensitive, fix importing so that diacritic characters are not lost or corrupted)
  • Add foreign language support to the database and interface (i.e., so someone could view the entire site in German)
  • Provide a way to look at (but not edit) the full information for an entry (like the secondary keywords)
  • Add "instant" theming changes from the Preference page (for color and language)
  • Add opening and closing of rel.to categories (saving which categories are open and closed in the user's cookies)
  • Provide a keyword that lists all not-hidden entries on the site as well as special pages like about, credits, and preferences
  • Provide a way to list the most recently edited entries on the site (database edits, not site edits)
  • Provide a way to list the most popular entries on the site (daily, weekly, and monthly)
  • Provide a way to automatically detect superfluous link content and recommend a shortened link (like stripping "index.html", "index.php", and s=/sid=/sessid= data following ? or &.
  • Provide a link-compacting service to create dynamic, short URLs.  These URLs would be stored in a separate table but the links must never conflict with existing keywords (maybe always start with a reserved character).  This would be similar to tinyURL or tr.im or other site services, but would be used just for the Myst community.  This service would also use the link content detector and recommend an adjusted target for links containing unnecessary values.
  • Keep a log of keywords attempted on rel.to that match 0 results.
  • Implement a spidering system so that rel.to can track the freshness of site information
    • Automatically mark sites that appear to have broken as candidates for being made inactive
    • Provide a way to list the sites that have been updated most recently (site edits, not database edits)
  • Provide a way for the site database to be sorted so that it remains easy to follow the structure even as the database grows

Added 10-Sep-2010 - Rewrite should also gracefully handle NULL and high-bit characters.

Gorobay wrote:
http://rel.to/%00 should probably be handled differently. Any string given to rel.to with <%00> makes rel.to fail. Any string with U+0000 deletes that character and beyond and works as expected.

Job just went bye-bye, and with it the 2 hours of commute time each day.  Though I need to put effort into finding new employment, I should have more time to work on these updates to rel.to, for a little while.

It was sudden and unexpected... and  I do appreciate the concern.  I'd like to keep this thread about rel.to though, so if people want to discuss jobs, let's please start a topic in "off-topic."  Thanks!

I mentioned this page and the request for a programmer for rel.to during the AllGuildsMeeting.

I have also taken some notes of things to add:

The Guild of Peasants (Lunanne said it was aready added but I can't find it on rel.to): http://www.gopeasants.blogspot.com/

The website of the Voltigeurs (French version of the SkyDivers and makers of difficult Marker Quests): http://voltigeurs.forumactif.ca (it is in french)

Uru BabelBot: http://uru.orangehairedboy.com/babelbot/index.php

The KI Directory: http://uru.orangehairedboy.com/ki/

I don't think this one is added yet, I couldn't find it with http://rel.to/deviant which should work for deviantart entries (well, it would be useful at least)

I wouldn't hold out any hope of answer any time soon on the Archiver issues being stored. Sorry I can't be more precise. Personally I would remove the link.

Sounds like that is the best approach, Szark.

Also, Janaba sent me a file of links that have gone bad.  Seems like sites are dying at a rapid pace.

Yeah I have been away from this for 6 months and I was surprised with how many sites are 404 or not registered anymore.
