Just spoke to Elpis in Second Life.  Turns out, the new forum is the forumandco.com site.  She thought that the old forum at createforum.net had been deleted, and did not know that other people were still posting to it.  She is going to reach out to the people posting at createforum and notify them that the forum has moved, and will be shutting down the createforum site.

Mystery solved!

There are some technical difficulties with rel.to on the new site, and so the domain is going to appear to be parked for the moment.  Hopefully this will be resolved tomorrow.

Site should be back up now.  I need to fix one piece on the IRC pages but that will be handled later today.

AlI can suggest at the moment is to try refreshing the site (hold your SHIFT key and click on the reload/refresh button in your web browser).  If you see a placeholder page instead of rel.to, wait a few minutes and refresh the page again.  Please let me know the results.

I saw the site working, changed my background color preference, and the site disappeared and I was given a placeholder page.  I refreshed the page a few times, and  after about 1 minute, the site began working again.  I do not know why.

If the placeholder page comes and goes for other people, I would like to know.

nothing for me too. Placeholder Page and tried to refresh several times.

Strange thing is that I get the Rel.to favicon on the browser Tab. I can't really think of why this should behvae like this. Maybe problems with DNS stuff

I can't get to Rel.to either.  I tried deleting temp internet files and cookies and refreshing as described above, and still no luck.

I've done some tests and I can see that sometimes rel.to is offline for minutes at a time, and other times, it is offline for just a few seconds and then is back.  In one test, I loaded the site 4 times stretched over the course of 1 minute, and the site loaded correctly on the 1st and 4th tries, but I got a placeholder on the 2nd and 3rd tries.

When the placeholder page shows up, it looks like the following link, except that as Leo stated, the .ICO file for rel.to appears in the address bar.  http://searchportal.information.com/?a_id=47368&domainname=rel.to

I checked the logs, and on the attempts to load the site that show a placeholder page instead, the attempt to load the site never appears in the site logs.  Only the successful attempts are being logged.   Also, there are no errors in the error log.

I have communicated everything above to Sophia, and I am grateful to her for being so patient with the questions I've asked of her thus far and all of the support she's already given to me.... I'll let everyone know when I know more myself.

The mystery is solved.  However, rel.to may be sporadically difficult to reach for 2-3 days although I've already applied a "fix", due to how things on the internet just work (or in this case, don't just work).  As Leo guessed, it is a domain name service (DNS) conflict.

If not already in the list, Add:

http://uruarchives.com/  - as a child of CCN / Cavern Communications Network

http://urulove.com/ - though, I'm not sure what category to put this one under.

ffa, fforums, mystfree, mystiquenet, mystpedia, untiluruwiki, and losungshilfe have become truncated.

Uru Love fits nowhere well, but it does not fit help, guilds, news, events, groups, or ages at all. That leaves official and personal.

If the Wikipedia article for ABM gets a tag (uruabmwikipedia), is this a precedent for having tags for all Myst-related articles there? If not, why is that article so special?

Re-enabled links:
'more' (MORE Letter and Roadmap)

Made contact on these lost items:
* Frappr Map - MystyDeb is considering whether to replace the Myst Online Frappr Map which is now offline.
* Recommended Info for New Players - Sent a suggestion to veralun to remove the outdated "sticky" post on the MOUL forums and replace it with current info

Corrected again: ffa, ffaforums, mystfree, mystiquenet, mystpedia, untiluruwiki, and losungshilfe.  Now that rel.to is on a much faster system, I will be able to do some tests to determine why the truncation keeps happening.
ere

Added immediately:  winemoula  (http://paradox22.wordpress.com/2010/02/12/moulagain-on-wine/)

I don't know what to say about the Wikipedia article; when I added it, it had some information that wasn't present elsewhere that I felt was relevant to cover.  But, that was originally the "To D'ni" page which Wikipedia moved or merged.

I vote UruLove to go under Personal, then.

Update:

I think Tweek is trying to set the world record for "most blogs."   Add http://inkwell.grey-skies.net/ - but this probably fits best under Ages & Development rather than personal blogs

At the bottom of the page it says "<!-- footer ->". A final dash is missing.
I found a thread with many pictures of the guild hall poster, but none were the high-resolution one I found, so I posted it. The thread is http://mystonline.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=18009 and my post is the last one. The first few posts in the thread are not about the guild hall.

Fixed above items.

That last item appears to be on a RoadRunner cable modem account - it's a dynamic IP address and subject to change.  Whereever you scraped up this link, could you please contact the person who published it and ask them to get a dynamic DNS name like the ones available at http://www.dyndns.com/ ?

Much appreciated.  By the way, there used to be a thread about the guild hall at Uru Obsession - jefftom started a discussion there after I posted the first set of pictures of the Guild Hall during Mysterium '09.  It took a while but I found the thread:  http://uruobsession.com/forum/index.php/topic/35244-guild-hall/   Sadly, there are two problems - first, the thread is displaying horribly wrong on Firefox 3.6 so I cannot recommend it for use with rel.to, and second, the real jewel of the discussion was Christian's picture or pictures of the Guild Hall on Google Picasa, and the link to that doesn't work anymore.

Although, in that thread there are also links to yet another site with old Uru artwork, such as http://www.luminousmachine.com/Portfolio/Character%20and%20Object%20Conc... . :)

So... if not already in the list, Add:

http://www.luminousmachine.com/  - Art and Portfolio of Michael Hines - Past and Present Cyantists

Hi Lunanne,

I will try to answer each of your questions soon (hopefully tonight, but otherwise, this weekend).  I am sorry that I have not answered the first set of questions already, I need time to look at each link and form an opinion and I've been too busy the past few days.

As always, thank you for working on this.

As far as I am aware, that is Zrax's website; Zrax is the author of the useful PlasmaShop tool.  I don't know why the site is so out of date.  What do you think of putting it in personal websites (because there is little of value except the form to contact Zrax), and updating the PlasmaShop entry so that uru.zrax.net is an additional parent?

Lunanne escribió:

For now, please add as http://xprog.ch/blog/?p=9 (the URL has changed slightly), but also set the "inactive" column to 1.

Lunanne escribió:

Looks like the site has been reset and the page is gone.  Drop from the list of things to add.

Lunanne escribió:

Yes, please.  And please add "youtube" in the new "type" column.

That is an interesting question.  I think most people would prefer a link to the last (relevant) archived version of the site.  But in some cases, these archive links are useful in seeing how sites have changed over time.  Many of the links in the list were contributed by Gorobay, with the "*" indicating to link to the Wayback Machine's index, which (to me) suggests he thinks the indexes should be linked.  Gorobay, what do you think?  And what do others think?

I used the * format to make it easier for the database-maker. It would be more useful to have a link to the most recent relevant version. If there are two significantly different useful versions of a site, I would add either the single * index, or both pages under different keywords.

Add:
http://www.twitter.com/CatUntermeyer
http://realxcv.elementfx.com
http://www.mystcommunity.com/board/index.php?showtopic=19142

Also: "mystaddcit" should be "mystaddict".

two new languages:

ru = russian

se=swedish

twitter.com/UruArtisans doesn't work

http://24.162.211.59/pyprp/  this one would change I thought?

http://www.luminousmachine.com/  I didn't find uru content

http://orangehairedboy.net/  I've added it to personal, but I'm not sure about it.

 http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.geocities.com/klolius/ only the first page is archived so not really useful

What to do with websites that are but of which there is already an unarchived version in the database? for example :

http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.agesofmyst.com-> http://mystworlds.ubi.com/us/?

http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.cyanworlds.com->www.cyanworlds.com
