Hi All,
First, I am not sure if I am posting this in the right place, if not, please move this thread.
Second, I am not sure who to talk to, so this is an open call for the right person to PM me.
I have written the first in a planned series of articles comparing Ages across the different games in Uru. The first article in the series compares K'veer between Myst V: End Of Ages and MOULa. You can read the article here: http://62.176.105.9/guildofsleepers/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=298 It is posted how I wish to present it (the pictures should be side by side). I am willing to alter the size of the pictures so they appear in a similar way on a GoMe site.
I have, of course, made an assumption that the GoMe would be interested to publish this article (and the planned follow up articles), this is something to be discussed with the right person. I have not contributed an article to the GoMe before and any advice would be welcome.

Shorah Alien.
First of all, I like your article, and, personally, as part of a series of articles, I think it would be a very valuable addition to the Cavern Post.
The procedure is quite simple, and is similar to submitting news: you navigate to our front page, click the big brown Submit button, choose Article, and start writing. The magazine team will then review your article and approve it, barring any required changes.
Ok, Article submitted, a few feedback comments:
It would have been nice if I could have submitted it without having to join this forum, until I joined the forum, I could only submit Calander Events or News.
I don't like the ... what is the right word? ... the method of putting in info, I am used to a forum input box, and this is slightly different, more html-like in it's functionality, I am not used to using it, and don't like it, but that's just me.
The preview of the article does not show me how it will look when published. I tried my best to format it all and present it as I have on the GoSleep forum, then when I clicked on save, it looked a complete mess and not how I had gone to great lengths to work on putting it all in.
But anyway, article submitted, now the editors have a task to tidy it up, resize the images etc ... good luck. Feel free to contact me regarding any changes.
Editing and formatting will be taken care of. ![]()
The unavailability of previewing in the editor is a technical limitation, IIRC.
I have reformatted the article. I couldn't put the pics side by side without shrinking them considerably, as TCP 2.0's page width doesn't seem to allow for a whole lot. So I switched it from "left and right" to "top and bottom". Also, I noticed the pics are hosted on a Dropbox account, which seems to load the pics sporadically or sometimes not at all. Is there a way to host them on a dedicated site such as Photobucket or the like? If you don't want to bother, the Guild has an account on that site if you don't mind us hosting the pics (you'll get credit, of course
).
Hi Doobes,
I don't mind the GoMe hosting the pics. I use my Dropbox account because it's very versitile.

Articles are more "important" things than News and Events, usually writing an article takes more than just some minutes unlike News or Events. Registration is required to discourage people submitting two-lines articles. Be happy that News and Events are available even if you're not registered, most websites all over the internet don't allow anything to be submitted if you're not registered; blame the spammers.

Our text editor is more advanced than a simple textarea where you are forced to type tags and BBCodes. Here you can see the final result directly in the input area, no real need to push the preview button. But if you really prefer the classic method, you can still use it, it's enabled, just use the usual BBCodes

Actually, I'm starting to think the image loading problems are on my end. Been having trouble on multiple sites, so I think we can leave the images where they are.
If you'd like to view/edit your article a bit before we publish it Alien, I can issue you a magazine team badge temporarily unless you'd like to join the team officially, of course. You don't even have to join the Guild itself if you don't want to. Freelance and all that. ![]()
I'd like to view my article so therefore I would require a magazine team badge.
I gave the idea of joining the magazine team some thought, and I think I'd like to join the magazine team as a freelance article writer. If I am going to publish a series of articles, it will save a lot of messing around. My only concern is that I am under no obligation to join the Guild of Messengers. I do not mean any disrespect or offence, but as I am sure you can appreciate, I am heavily involved with the Guild of Sleepers, and joining a second guild would be too much commitment for me.
Well welcome aboard then! I've added you to the Magazine Team. Let us know if there are any problems.
