Mysterium 2013 Logo Contest Now Open

As is tradition with every Mysterium, it's time to design a logo for this year's convention!  Those explorers that are artistically inclined are welcome to enter for a chance to have their work featured on the official t-shirt and memorabilia.  The theme for this year's logo is none other than Myst Island itself.  Past years' themes included Kadish Tolesa (2010), Amateria (2011), and most recently, Mechanical Age for 2012's Mysterium.

A list of requirements for the image you want to submit, such as format, resolution, etc. are at the original announcement on the site.

All submissions must be in by April 15th so be sure to get your entries in as soon as possible.  For more details on this year's convention, visit our previous news post.

Mysterium 2013 Location Announced

The Falling Man Group knows that fans have been patiently waiting to hear about Mysterium, and they bring good news: The location for Mysterium 2013 has been finalized: Rochester, New York.

Rochester has a great location in upstate New York. It's right alongside Lake Ontario and less than a day from from many major cities, including Toronto, New York City, Philadelphia, Buffalo, Washington DC, and Boston. The city is beautiful in the summer, and packed with things to do that will appeal to Myst fans. Here's a short list:

  • Strong Museum of Play (complete with an International Center for the History of Electronic Games, plus a Butterfly Garden!)
  • The George Eastman House, a museum of photography and film
  • A science center with a planetarium
  • Seabreeze amusement park (accessible via bus routes)
  • The Dryden Theatre (one of the few places in the US able to show nitrate film) -A variety of attractive parks and walking trails
  • And much much more.

The Mysterium 2013 planning committee will consist of Capella, Lutra, estelendur, and Kaelri.  It will take place on August 1st through the 4th.  Details on the hotel are still forthcoming, so be sure to check back here for updates!

City Bidding for Mysterium 2013 (And Beyond)

With Mysterium 2012 over, Falling Man Group starts looking forward to 2013.

Capella has become their new Chair!  She’s been around the community for ages and the group feels she’ll be a great asset.

On Myst's 20th anniversary and a possible Mysterium in Spokane:

"Because of [previous discussions and feedback], the FMG board felt that (especially in light of there being less space at Cyan now), Spokane & Cyan trips should be reserved for those times when Cyan has something to share, and can put its best face forward."

Despite this, FMG does not discourage anyone who would like to try to make a bid for Spokane anyway, including Cyan if they so choose.
